About the Author
Meet Abdul Shakoor KhaN
Abdul Shakoor Khan is a physician, educator, mentor, and author whose life journey spans Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and the United States.
Born in Pakistan in 1972, Dr. Khan earned his medical degree from Rawalpindi Medical College in 1996. His early career included serving as the sole physician in a rural village near Kahuta, Pakistan, where he experienced firsthand the profound impact of compassionate healthcare.
He later pursued advanced training in general surgery and served as an Assistant Professor of Anatomy at Islamic International Medical College in Islamabad.
From 2005 to 2013, Dr. Khan worked as a general surgeon in Saudi Arabia before immigrating to the United States. Like many immigrants, he endured years of perseverance and reinvention.
Since 2019, Mr. Khan has served at START Center for Cancer Care, where he assists and supports hundreds of cancer patients and their families with compassion and understanding. He also teaches healthcare students at SCI South Campus San Antonio and mentors international medical graduates pursuing careers in medicine.
A lifelong learner and lover of nature, travel, and family, Dr. Khan lives in San Antonio, Texas, with his wife, son, and their beloved cat, Taro. The Last Human Physician represents his first official book and the culmination of ideas and reflections developed over many years.
